For several years, the MCCGJA has been providing a service to the Presiding Superior Court Judge by participating in the interview process that all applicants receive before their application is approved for addition to the drawing for selection.

Starting last year the Presiding Judge requested that we assume responsibility for all of the interviews, including written observations on each applicant.  The Judge then used these observations in determining the qualifications of each applicant and, ultimately, the selection of the new Foreperson.

As a result of this increased responsibility to carry out this function, the MCCGJA formed a new Committee called the Selection Advisory Committee. In addition to the regular interviews, a “group activity”, facilitated by Rich Treadgold was conducted to see how each applicant, with a need to solve one or more typical problems, interacted in a group session. The sessions and interviews were held over three dates in late April and early May.

After the completion of the interview process, the Presiding Judge (with input from the MCCGJA), selected the finalists who were then invited to attend the drawing on June 16.

Approximately 30 of our members participated in these interviews.
